I love Robyn's Virgin River Series. I started that series originally out of order and I wasn't confused. This particular story,One Wish, I don't recommend reading without having some background on the characters. There were so many introduced and they each had their own segment in this book.. I was confused. I thought this story was specifically about Troy and Grace, but when we left them and moved into other's lives, I was lost. I couldn't keep track of who was who and why we cared about them. Personally, I just wanted to get back to Troy and Grace. Troy was such a loveable character. I felt he was every girl's dream and every mother's dream for their daughters. And Grace, though annoying at times, was a good solid strong female character with weaknesses that were easy to understand.I loved the Russian Coach that Grace still kept in contact with. I was so glad when he was brought into the story by visiting and not kept as a phone character.The only other thing I've noticed about most romances written these days, is they end abruptly. It's like as soon as the man puts that ring on the girls finger, that's the end. I wish there was at least an ending that was gradual and somewhat more fulfilling than they got together--he asked; she said yes, the end. Maybe they are mentioned again in another book to bring a reader more closure? I guess you have to read them all to find out and hope to get a glimpse of them again. I don't know. I just noticed lately, when I read many romance novels, they all mostly seem to end this way.Though Robyn Carr's stories are always entertaining and have that fun comical side to them that make me laugh out loud, I found myself almost skipping quickly through some of the descriptions given especially when we changed focus to other couples and families. Hence, my suggestion for reading the Thunder Point Series in order. Maybe if I had, I would've cared more about those sections that introduced me to characters that didn't seem relevant. I loved everything about this book and it's my favorite story in the Thunder Point series because it has all the components of a truly fabulous reading experience. Complex and lovable characters, a sophisticated storyline that engaged my emotions and kept me glued to the page and a deliciously sexy and oh-so-satisfying romance. I was delighted by Grace's Russian skating coach and found him hysterically funny and Troy's experience outside the souvenir shop was a riot! I'm a huge fan of the sport of figure skating and being able to experience it through Grace's perspective was very compelling, especially when we learn why she had to walk away from the pressures of competition and fame and the high expectations of her domineering mother. The sober complexity of Grace's relationship with her mother was absolutely heartbreaking, yet I admired the strength Grace showed by distancing herself from her mother's demanding personality. Thank goodness Grace finds the love of her life in sweet and sexy high school teacher Troy. This series is one of my all time favorites and it's a must-read for fans of contemporary romance. If you haven't yet discovered Robyn Carr, what are you waiting for?
